The Alpine Sisters Of Fury And Hate: I
T.A.S.O.F.A.H is an ongoing performance project created by James St Findlay and Phoebe Millar
Performance at Summerhall, November 2015
A couple are expecting guests. They lay the table with fruit and wine, eager to impress. The air is pregnant with anticipation and the girl is pregnant with an actual baby ( a little body made of flesh (not yet with a mind of it’s own) is unfurling inside her like a red fern). The boy and the girl exchange phone numbers with each other. They remove the coloured masks they had been wearing up until this point. A couple who fell in love return to a forest after a thousand years spent either in a dense canopy or an underground network of caves (neither can be sure). When discussing the imminent death of this beautiful earth, what could have become an argument instead blossoms into a moment of mutual euphoria. They dance as though one, synchronized in both body and spirit. They are in love with both each other and the world around them.
